We had a well attended visit to Open Oceans Robotics where we spent a fascinating morning seeing and understanding the many uses of a remote controlled oceangoing craft.

Open Ocean Robotics excels in collecting a wide range of oceanographic and atmospheric data to support research and environmental monitoring.
·    seafloor bathymetry
·    marine biodiversity monitoring
·    benthic habitats and fisheries surveys
·    carbon credit Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)
·    eDNA sampling
·    ocean current profiling

We were able to see the operation from the construction of the crafts themselves as well as witnessing the control of one at work on the ocean.  Control can be handled from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

A fascinating visit to see state of the art technology, used around the world, right on our doorstep.
